You are absolutely correct about taking care of your people! I had one of the highest payout %s in GFC - to the point it had an adverse effect on my weekly margins - but I needed to do what I could to take care of the guys in the field. Also, as I started seeing what was happening, I was moving techs to my competitors even before the final day to make sure they could still make a living. I am doing a start up now and I have already set the payouts in the 40% - 50% range which is better than the GFC payouts - much better, with a performance review after 90 days with the possibility of increases. Taking care of the techs comes first in this business - without them you have NOTHING!
