Dunno, maybe if an open posting of the pricing matrix was included in your want ads people would know they werent walking in blind.
I don't know why it has to be such a secret what payout is on piece meal work is untill the contractor meets the subs, unless it's because most contractors want to feel out what certain subs will take for bare minimal survival.
Seems alot of places I've worked you find all the subs asking each other what they are getting for their prices.
