Until recently, the Boston Market was using pre-connectorized fiber drops that are almost like the ole’ “Opti-span” cables used by CATV. I’ve seen two different style types of enclosures that will be located within the general area of the homes i.e., for the four, six, and eight port HUBS are to be used in residential areas. I attended a vendor show that demonstrated its MDU wares for the same application. I am not aware of the MDU decision at this time but wouldn’t be surprised to see 8, 12, and 16 port versions.
On a not so dissimilar thread, I believe that Verizon (Boston) scrapped the specialized fiber count/footage per reel concept. It was a smoking gun for one of the fiber vendors. I’ve seen it deployed but the consequences and risks far outweighed the benefits for sure - especially, on the operations/logistics/warehousing side of the house.
As far as the splicing pay-out, I've only heard of $8 per burn at the Main Hub location. I'm not sure of the set-up cost per station but I've heard of the low-ball price of $125 per. circulating. CAVEAT EMPTOR: These rates are not verified! These rates have not been confirmed! They are via :HEARSAY
