Re: New to cable contracting

Talk to in house people you know already who are located in your area and who are involved in hiring contractors. They can tell you what you need and might even be able to get you some slock work locally to start.

Generally, you need to be ready to purchase and/or obtain the following:

Workman's Comp Insurance.
General Liability Insurance.
Line Of Credit or source of capital to get you through the first several months.
Network of initial subs who may be willing to go to work for you.
Truck, tools, certifications, etc.
A mentor interested in your success.

You'll also need this:
POSSITIVE ATTITUDE!!! No matter what is thrown at you.
A lot of patience.
Be willing to travel.
Be willing to take unattractive jobs no one else wants. Those jobs will be the ones that you can get the fastest.

You don't need this:
Alcohol.
Inattention to medical care for yourself.
Inattention to personal appearance.
Strange women unless you are single and then watch yourself anyway.

Good Luck!
