In Alexandria (750MHz HFC plant), there are approximately 125 homes per node. It actually doesn't make good business sense to do so, that system was byuilt to be a showcase. You can get 3 or 4 activesin cascade with no problems, but your node sizing should really come from reverse path engineering - What advanced services will you offer, and what are the bandwitdth limitaitons.
