This should not affect add ons like Vonage or other VOIP systems (Cisco). The are just piped onto the network.
However, this may affect AOL High Speed Online over modem services, Earthlink, Internet Junction and the like. These companies work in conjunction with the ISPs (Cable Companies) to consolidate billing and serices on one provider.
Thus, you can still use AOL and the others on Broadband connection, but the discounts and conveniences may be gone for the customer.
There is no way the Cable Companies can or will spend the time to block VOIP off their network from companies like Vonage. It would take additional equipment, and a lot of personnel resources to close the network, this would not be cost effective.
