The source of the statistics is the U.S. Department of Defense: http://www.defenselink.mil/news/Jan2003/d20030114avf.pdf so you're right, they probably are skewed The point is, recruitment by all the services is way down, especially among minorities. The smarter kids are staying away, or their parents are making them stay away. Don't you think that's a huge problem for a military already stretched to the breaking point? Polls show a majority of Americans now oppose the war!
The reality is the US will have to start reducing force levels in Iraq very soon or the volunteer military is going to collapse. There just aren't enough troops to go around. The people who sold this war are still unable to own up that it's a disaster and growing larger by the day. The insurgency is in its "last throes" says Dick Cheney! Right.
The people who led us into this war on false pretenses, on fear, have no credibility anymore. This is exactly the time to fight them, verbally and otherwise, until they're not allowed to cause any more damage. People need to know they've been lied to, are still being lied to, and will continue to be lied to until they FIGHT
for the truth.
