The delay isn't the problem. What is happening is everyone is taking a bite from the apple. You get the core.
Use your spare time to climb the food chain. Find another company closer to the source of the money. Work for several companies and be selective about how far you will travel. Get good identification from the folks who hand out the work. They could vanish on you.
