Verizon hired 68 "newbies" (which alot of them are experienced in the field), The "newbies" are now dropping like flies, the cronic kills. A guy lands a good job and cant quit the smoke. Also, some of these, how did you put it????? Oh yea "newbies" are washed out electricians from the same local and they cant do the job done because they are afriad of ladders, or hooks, or they are just not getting the job done. So, Verizon will end up with about 50-60 "NEWBIES" for the FTTP project in Ft. Wayne. Thats not enough to handle all of the splicing, so yes contractors will still be in place in Ft. Wayne untill all of the splicing is finished.
I've been a contractor for ALONG time, some of these contractors are doing a piss poor job. Verizon is taking a zero tolerance stand point. If you screw up your gone!!!! This will hopefully eleminate the problems that we saw in Tampa and Keller. On the other hand there are alot of good contractors out there and they are being rewarded by getting all of the good work. So, if your coming to Ft. Wayne, or you are already there, you better have you're s@#t straight, because they are NOT fooling around!!!! I watched an inspector roll up on a job just to see how things were going, the guy didn't have any cones or signs out and he was fired on the spot without even a how do you do!!!!!! Hope this helps answer your questions. Later, Red
