Ditectv has always required a phone to the ird.
however i only use what comes packaged with the reciever.
ie. a 25 ft cord. i used to charge a customer $25 to hard line a jack.
when directec said we could no longer charge the customer for this.
all phone work ceased. when directec said we had to run free phone jack.
i ceased to work for them. enough is enough.
if you still want to work for your hsp. your gonna do free work!
