I bought a Birdog meter for $400+ and the same thing happend to mine. I contacted Perfect-10 and the rep sent me a repare kit which consisted of a new faceplate. The Birdog has a in/out design to send signal to a reiever. Since the f-81 connector would have been near impossible to fix, I simply bypassed the out f-81 to the input connections on the board and that did the job.
I have since sold the Birdog and recouped 85% of my loss and I now pledge to never spend more than $75 on a plastic meter again. I have used my old faithful channel master for 6+ years and it is built like a tank.
Here is a great idea for anyone who can get the message to the R&D guys in the meter market, start building your $400+ meters in a steel casing and makem tough as a channel master. Then I'll throw down the dough.
