I don't think any jobs are being lost. I can go work for a number of subs. The question is, do you want to work that cheap? Do you want to be "guilty" through association with the inexperienced hackers that are butchering the same job that your working on? There are going to be a lot of subs out there testing out they're insurance (buying cable). Yes, these systems do have to work and they are usually guaranteed for at least one year or more. I believe these things go in cycles. The "suits" will finally figure out that a little more money, planning, qualifying, and proper supervision up front will save them not only money, but also a lot of maintenance nightmares in the future. Can you imagine what rats nest those Corning aerial terminals are going to end up being? We just have to wait for them to shoot themselves in the foot a few more times.
