Don't use staples!!! If you accidently send a staple thru the wire and you either find it or miss it ,it can short that whole line out . Use roka clips.,Most codes aren't that strick on cable & phone lines,but using a VCR and recording the prewire with measurements (somebody else with a tape measure ) is a an excellant idea. I know I did it with my house.Also if you can run fiber also and cat 5 lines.Don't forget porches garages etc your better off putting it in now than later.
