The problem is you still have transmission loss, ingress/egress problems amongst other issues that are probably kept in the closet. With fiber, there is more room for a pletera of channels and bandwidth. That is the way to go. It would be easy to transition the cable dawgs into this as well. If this was not the case, FTTP would not be exploding across the U.S. right now.
