The reason being FTTP. Some engineer with Corning came up with a "GREAT" idea when he designed an aerial fiber terminal. Instead of having tails long enouph to reach the ground to be worked on in a splicing trailer you are left with an eight foot loop at the pole to do your ring cut up in the air. If you have ever done one off of a ladder it's obvious why it's preferable to have a bucket truck, not to mention most would rather take their fusion machine up in a bucket than carry it up a ladder. Unfortunatly most areas I've been your bucket truck is just being used to carry your ladder out to the job. (backyard easements)
