I do installs and sales for DTV in MDU's...yes the $150 deposit has cost me a couple of customers but not many. Out of 10 sales so far this week I have only had 1 that needed the deposit and wasn't able to pay it. 5 didn't need the deposit at all the the other 4 paid me the money. Cash up front. It is my understanding that the $150 is going to be witheld from the commisions that DTV gives to retailers for the sale of a receiver. Collecting the money will benefit the retailer and keep them from being charged back by DTV when the customer stops paying the bill after 3 months. So the way I figure it is the person that didn't have the deposit was more than likely a charge back waiting to happen.
