if you are using only the one dish for directv channels you do not use a multi switch, if you are using a second dish for locals , then you would need the multi switch. put your zip code in and the reciever will tell you the azimuth to point and the elevation, as long as the mast is plumb, you shoul;d be able to find satellite... go slowly though until you hit the satellite. on your reciever you will hear a intermidate beeping noise, when you hit the satellite it will be a steady noise. once you hit it, move slowly till you get the highest pitch, lock it down. then adjust elevation to highest pitch... tighten down... your set AND WELCOME TO DIRECTV

P.S. CORRECTION, IF YOUR USING MORE THAN 4 REC.. YOU WOULD ALSO NEED A MULTI SWITCH
