Re: Tools held hostage!!!!

Bad enough they go over the invoices to find ways to chisel you out of hard earned pay once issues of bad will arise on their side. But then to take your means of income away from you so as some other guy can use them to make the $$ for the thief is just lower than maggot excrement.

They are your tools. Call the police and say " I want to press charges" Go online and find the highest prices for each piece of equipment that was taken and must be replaced and tell the police thats the cost of what was stolen. Show up with a list that includes the model number and price of each piece, and a chain of events including the name and contact info of the person you found with some of your property. Be precise in the details so that the DA will see he has a prosecutable case and the DA should act on it post haste. That will be the declared value of the stolen property. Also if the police are in the least bit hesitant to act on your right to press charges than go directly to the DA and start the ball rolling there.
The tools of your trade are your means to income and no employer can retain them as such.
Remember any thing with a declared value of over $1,000 is grand larceny and as such is a felony. A felony conviction will definately put a leash on the dirtbags ability to do certain things that need any sort of background checks. plus it'll cost the miscreant many $$ out of pocket for blood sucking attorneys fees.
