Transferring Motorola DVR recordings to PC

On my Motorola 6412, I have been trying to transfer my DVR info via firewire to my Pc with XP. I have had limited success. I have software that was recommended (Capdvhs)at this site http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?postid=3818890#post3818890 and followed the instructions on the link and all i can get is a file with 0kbs in it. Can anyone help who has been successful at doing this?
