My husband has been a cable dawg for 25 years. Now he's been doing DirecTV installs for the past year, keeps real busy, makes a real nice paycheck and loves it. Less work with more free time. The problem with the cable industry is that the cable companies just got too dang greedy. There's still cable work out there, (even tho satellite is getting bigger and bigger) but the cable companies just raise their prices, but don't want to pay the contractors anything anymore. Now they want you to do everything for free. My husband used to work sun up to sun down for the cable co. and make peanuts...with satellite he does 4-5 jobs a day and still gets home at a decent time. Somedays longer than others, but then he always has a real nice paycheck to show for it. He'll never go back to cable!
