Ya sub for a prime, show up 6 days a week at 7:15 everyday, rain, shine, blizzards, etc. Do all your work in a professional manner, don't cause any chargebacks for said company, even perform trouble calls for the supervisor because he's real busy and not get paid for those calls ("because I'm doing him a favor and it'll pay off in the end") They force all the subs to come in-house, cancelling all contracts they signed and cutting prices by as much as 70%, tell me I'm working in-house as of Jan. 31st, a month later comes and it's time for my 1st in-house paycheck and there isn't one. I leave messages for the head of human resources and no return calls, I leave messages for the owner and the same results. After my supervisor "goes to bat" for me the head of human resources finally calls me under duress and says ' what do you want" "make it quick" so when she finally lets me get a word in she tells me she never hired me and hangs up on me.
It stinks that the industry has gotten this way, but here I sit an employee who didn't get paid for his labor. But I guess she forgot that in the middle of feb. she tendered me a letter stating I was an employee that was directed to a govt. agency. gave me acess to the employee web-site where I had daily entered my jobs (and made snapshots of all that for my records), gave me a company uniform, etc.
Well now it's time here in NY to turn all this over to the division of labor standards.
Lucky for me I have my own paid for newer white chevy astro cargo with cage and racks, my own tools, CLI-1750, A+ cert, etc. so it wasn't all that hard to find another place to work starting monday in another system.
I'm suprised with all the deceit and BS that goes on out there that we don't read about more techs and lineman going postal.
I'll keep going cause I like the work and the people I meet along the way.
No honor at all.
