A - 0.04 dB is a loss, a + 0.04 is a gainer. A gainer is usually where two fiber have a different diameter and the signal flows from the smaller fiber into a bigger diameter fiber. In our system we require a -0,02 dB or better. If a fusion does't meet this it should be redone. The .GIF picture attched should give you an idea of what I am talking about.
