If your idea is a good one you might try selling it to one of the more entrauperurial (sp?) firms. then set back and take a royality payment off every unit sold. Or do you want to male and market the product?
The SCTE has over 15000 dues paying members who are either techs or tech mangaers. So I would say that there is probaly 100 times that many installers.
