The reason I asked is because the website is another example of internet based instruction, without input from experienced technicians. If a entry level splicer follows these instructions, the result may very well be another problem in the field that will remain for years. I watched a cable manufacturer rep instruct Cox fiber techs on prepping of their product. He mangled the cable during the process. All I could do was stand by until after, then pull the guys aside. Manufacturers recommendations are taken by an experienced tech and due to extensive experience, kept, modified, or ignored. In my personal experience, D-Gel' will clean fibers well enough so no alcohol will be needed until cleaving. In my opinion, "Cable Clear" doesn't clean as good as D-Gel', and has left residue after a standard cleaning.
