Re: Wallfishing

There are only two basic ways to wall-fish two stories from an attic. Both have been described here already but:

1) Open hole in attic and do it like a 2nd story fish by opening the wall on the second story. Then use a flex bit to drill through from the 2nd to 1st floor. The hole on the 2nd floor can now be an extra outlet or can be covered with a blank wall plate.

TIP: I always open three holes in attic – 1 for the fish, 1 for a flashlight to sit on, and one for my eye. Now you don’t have to sweat the pipes and wires because you can see what’s going on. I also use 1 ½ inch holes.

2) You can just keep on adding extension bits till you drill through to the first floor. I don’t use a flex bit or long bit for this, I just use 2’ quick connect extensions with a sharp auger bit. I can see whats going on through my eye hole so I am certain I’m lined up right before I drill. DON’T DROP THE BIT!
