Currently we are a prime doing VoIP installs since July. Although the roll-out of the service was time consuming with learning the new installation skillsets and the MSO working through porting numbers issues, it's going very smoothly now with 6 installs per day with some other billing oppurtunities (HSD, Video, DVR etc.).
Most VoIP installs are up-grades of service and have HSD service already and if the HSD service is working in most cases so will VoIP.
As far as the high pay-outs, when MSO's roll-out of HSD services they were paying up to $120 for an install which was the first major digital product. They are not going down the same road with high payouts for roll-out for VoIP installs, VoIP pricing is a little higher then current HSD installs with additional billable work for additional phone extensions and drop system re-works.
The only silver lining is as MSO's add new products you can make more money per job and save on gas.
