I usually shoot CPD with the spectrum analyzer function of a Wavetek 5000, and a line probe. Set the analyzer at 2 Mhz per division and CPD shows up on every 3rd line. Being that you are looking at the return path, start at the furthest point and work back. To isolate legs DO NOT PULL FUSES! This will make the CPD disappear temporarily, only to come back later. Instead, isolate legs by pulling return pads, diplexers, or other Return path signal components. Reading off the seizure screw gives you the best look (highest level) . I also probe the return pad holes or the seizure screws at the amp instead of looking at the attenuated test ports.
