All I got to say is good luck. Been there a couple of times now and maybe your state where the work was done will work better but here the law will not allow mechanics liens as cable lines are on right of ways and not truly owned by the cable company. Had 2 lawyers tell me the same thing.
You could take them to small claims court. Best case scenario is you get paid. Next case scenario is you spent the legal fees to only end up with a judgement for a company that can just shut down and you end up with a worthless piece of paper(judgement) that can't be collected on. I'd love to hear of things that actually work but I haven't found them yet.
Far as the shovel...well it may make you feel better but then you'll be on the wrong end then too. lol
