Well I have been doing this for 22 years and things have changed over the years, It use to be that you would bid on a job based on the quantity of work and the difficulty in getting it done. Now the MSO's tell you this is all we are paying take it or leave it. Well the problem is there are to many subs out there taking it so the MSO pays what they want not what the job is worth.
It is time to start leaving some of this work and telling the MSO's that its time to start paying what the job is worth. Just because you can hire some one from McD's for minimum wage and get them to do cable work dose not mean that is what the job is worth.
And there is also something to be paid for a man leaving his home and family only seeing them a few days a month and going on the road to help your system out in your time of need.
But as long as contractors keep bending over and taking it, or as long as contractors keep cutting each other's neck to win the bid even if you can make money on it, And most times the only way you can make money is to screw the pour lineman and splicer who actually did the work, This is the way our industry will continue to be.
