Art Stocks Playpen South, 1976 yr. used to have wet T shirt contest every Wed. night, first prize was 100.00 dollars, Well then they had a idea, lets try a 500.00 dollar first prize, the wet T shirt contest was conducted in the front room on the right hand stage where the band played. All kinds of booby and nude dancers would show up to compete, as well as girls on spring break. The night they had a five hundred dollar first prize , you should have seen the women, the club was packed with women and as I call them Jack offs. The T shirt contest didn't start until 12 pm, we had this Band in the Club from Asberry Park New Jersey, the bands Name was Waterfront. Just so happened that Leon , the lead singer and Springstein were friends. It was about Waterfronts third set of the Night. They had just finished preforming one of Springsteins songs, they were getting ready to sing one of Bruces greatest hits. I was working the front room that night, I was one of the bouncers that keeps groupies with too much to drink away from getting on stage. Bruce Springstein comes up to me, unnoticed at that point by the crowd, he says to me. Do you know who I am? I answered certainly, he says Leon is a good friend of mine and I want to get on stage and sing my next song with him, I'm like no problem. I let him by, he walks up to Leon and says lets do it, The two stood there side by side at the same mike and jammed it out, I've never seen anything like it.The crowd went wild. Two Bit.ches (MY apologies ladies ,thats what we used to call you'all) blacked out fell off their bar stool and hit the floor. People helped the ladies up, but they wouldn't leave, thank God they were allright. Anyway Springstein rocks the house for two songs. Then a bunch of us bouncers escorted him outside to his awaiting limo. Awsome memory. Later that night we had the wet t-shirt contest. We had already had to stop people from coming in , unless someone left, you couldn't get in, as the Bar was packed to capacity, 2800 people. In the middle of the T shirt contest we had to stop the contest and ask people to step back, as the people who were at the Big Bar where the ladies danced , were being crushed against the bar by the massive crowd of J.O's, I was sure glad to see that night over. The next story I will write is about the Playpen,The Big Surf, The Pavillon and me. If you remember the song by Carly Simon, I don't remember its proper name, but its something to do with he watched his self in the mirror as he walked by.It will be about me ,some of my many ladies and why I am "concieded" but in a good way. Later "WHITFIELD"
I'd rather live my life believeing there is God and die to find out their isn't . Than to live my life as if their wasn't God and die to find out there is ! WHITFIELD
