I install DW in the south TX area and have never really had any complaints. Its slow on the upload which everyone knows but vs. dial up, there is no comparison. Direcway does not use two modems anymore. DW6000 is home use right now probably already getting to be upraded also. Which is a one modem system upload and download. They are easy to install once you find that golf ball size of a signal. As far as hacking it or someone dropping in on you, I dont know. Hope that helps. They also have the gateway modem units for business with routers.
