Gee---- according to the regional building committee answers I was able to obtain, I got a much more practical and less condescending response.
You see Mr. Meat, while you were on your little stint in Japan, many of the houses of worship you attend were constructed over the course of a weekend. At an average rate of 5 to 6 per week worldwide. This effort requires great deal of planning and efficiency. The installation of windows requires time, additional expense vs. cost of siding, and skills that impede the ability of others (which falls into the time column) to work around the window installers.
Given that vandalism is a concern for any builder and while it is evident that you would prefer to be persecuted visa vis vandalism, there seems to be much more practical information on the matter.
Another consideration offered, and one that makes more sense than the "hate" scenario, brings a rationale that rises to the top of reasons.
I remember going to a school that didnt have windows. When the teacher was asked why, her response did not include the words "hate" or "abuse". Vandalism didnt even come out of her mouth.
Rather, she stated: "Because we want you to pay attention to whats going on in here, not whats going on out on the playground."
So, pay attention while you are inside your house of worship of choice Mr. Meat, and dont worry about the rest of us or try to placate us with YOUR interpretation of a question.
