DataBahn will soon be introducing high-speed two-way satellite internet service.
DataBahn will compete directly with the T-1 market place. Three units will be unveiled later this year. DataBahn will introduce a completely mobile 26-inch round dish that will produce connection speeds of 500k on the uplink and 3 mega bites on the downlink. In addition to this system DataBahn will also supply a .75 elliptical fixed dish that yields connection speeds of 1 megabyte on the uplink and 5 megabytes on the downlink and a 1.2 meter dish with connection speeds of 2.5 megabytes on the uplink and 20 megabytes on the downlink.
DataBahn will be introducing the first affordable, 2-Way mobile satellite internet solution engineered to deliver business grade performance at consumer level pricing. DataBahn's vision expands beyond the traditional concept of satellite dish and hardware manufacturers to deliver a complete solution to the consumer that provides hardware, bandwidth, services, peripherals, support and an "in-the-home" user experience at the lowest price points in the industry.

How fast is your internet connection? The DataBahn solution is significantly faster than any other service offered in the consumer satellite market. Basic connectivity service will offer at least 256kbps uplink and 2.5mbps downlink speeds while businesses can opt for even higher bandwidth if required. Mobile VSAT satellite dishes (Very Small Aperture Terminals) are routinely used at speeds of 6mbps uplink and 40mbps downlink but were previously too expensive for consumers to utilize.
Where will the service be available? DataBahn will provide connectivity for the Continental United States initially, and include other areas of the Americas shortly afterward.
Do you require a separate ISP? No. DataBahn will provide your connectivity service as the ISP and this is an important differentiator. We provide your hardware, bandwidth, services, support and peripherals delivered through our exclusive dealer network.
Can I keep my AOL account? Yes, you can use your AOL email and services with the Databahn system.
What do you plan on charging for your service? DataBahn's affordable pricing is a driving element to our business model and we will be competitively priced below other existing mobile satellite internet services.
Can I install my own dish? No. Although the DataBahn installation process is much easier than other mobile satellite systems sold, you must purchase, install and activate the equipment from a DataBahn licensed dealer. The FCC classifies any transmitting 2-way satellite dish as a “transmitter” and requires that it be installed and activated only by trained personnel. Our DataSatplus DataBahn installers undergo careful selection and training to ensure that uniform quality control measures are followed.
The DataBahn satellite transceiver is a compact, robotic system that mounts to the roof of virtually any vehicle or platform. No serial ports are required to connect your computer to the system. No software is loaded on your computer to control the dish and there is no bulky control box. The dish connects by standard coax cable to the modem and the modem delivers broadband connectivity directly to your computer via USB or Ethernet.
Do I need a phone line? No. The Databahn system is a completely self-contained 2-way internet connection that works anywhere in the United States. You do not need phone lines or cell phones for a return connection. Users and installers of other systems will appreciate that a phone line is not needed to “websetup” the configuration.
Is there a market for this product? The only 2-way mobile satellite systems currently sold are extremely expensive and slow by today’s broadband expectations. They provide a consumer grade product at commercial pricing levels. DataBahn offers a commercial level solution at consumer price points 30% below competitors. In addition, we offer a variety of peripherals and services to complement the “In-the-Home” experience.
Who needs the DataBahn product and service?Anyone who needs convenient broadband connectivity in a remote, mobile capacity will enjoy our mobile Internet solution.
Can I use the dish for DirecTV or DishTV? Yes. The DataBahn Mobile Satellite Internet Solution will allow you to receive DirecTV or DishTV and access the internet simultaneously. Naturally, additional fees apply to receive programming for TV services.
Will DataBahn work with Macintosh computers? Yes, the DataBahn equipment and service is compatible with Macintosh computers. Unlike other products, you can connect directly to the modem without requiring a Windows based PC or NAP to network the connection.
Can I use my virtual private network (VPN) with DataBahn? Yes. Just like a cable modem or DSL, you can connect using VPN.
Do I need a southern line of sight to receive a signal? Yes. Wherever you park, you will need a clear line of site to the southern sky in order for the dish to receive the satellite signal.
Will your service be affected by rain fade? Like all satellite services, performance can be subject to weather interference. However, the DataBahn system uses a more powerful dish and adjusts automatically to provide better performance in poor weather conditions. Sensing weather or interference in the transmission, the system automatically lowers internet speeds to cope with rain fade. Where other services may fade completely, you may experience a slower connection of 90kbps uplink and 1mbps downlink during heavy rain.
Can I have a fixed IP address? Standard service packages provide a dynamic IP address. For an extra charge, a fixed IP address will be offered as a premium option.
