Look at it factually:
Kerry's gross income 2004: $395,338, fed. taxes: $147,818
Bush's gross income 2004: $822,126, fed. taxes: $227,490
Cheyney's gross income 2004: $1.3M, fed. taxes $253,067
So as a percentage paid in taxes:
Kerry: 37.4%
Bush: 27.7%
Cheyney: 19.4%
The richer they are, the less taxes they pay. No surprise there.
