Go to corning.com for the IOR. (most popular glass for fiber)
Most cable makers used SMF 21 in the early & mid 80's(no window for 1550um), in the late 80's & early 90's they made SMF 28 that had a IOR of 1.467, they also made Titan & a few others which I am not sure of the IOR, check who made the cable & when go to there site for more info.
The company that bought the cable may have kept the data sheet that came with the reels, this has the test info & the IOR
