Does your machine have the old style leveling system, that uses the chain and fiberglass rods? It sounds like one of the rods maybe loose, or the chain is stretched, which will cause it to jump a few teeth. If it's the kind that uses the two hydraulic cylinders, you may have an air pocket in either the upper or lower cylinder. If that's the case you can just crack a line and bleed off the air.
