Re: Minority contract

Having worked for a minority owned contractor I have gleaned some experience in this area. Here are some question for you
1. Federal, State and Local governments and there major contractors are really the only ones that are required to set aside a certain amount of their business for minority firms. They are willing to pay a premium for a period of time to enable that firm to then get established and compete with the big boys on an equal footing. Does the MSO in question have the federal government as a sub in the community that you are trying to get work in?
2. Does his city franchise agreement have a minority hiring clause or minority business clause in it. You can contact the city or look at the Public file at the cable co office.
3. Minority business suppliers have to meet all of the requirements to do business as any other contractor.
4. Are you certified as a minority business by the local business development office, regional SBA office or other out reach agency.
5. Is your home or office in a historically under utilitized development (HUD) zone?
5.A. Do your employees live in the HUD Zone?
