Re: HELP! Breaking Lashing Wire. Why?

Dennis
you did not say where the breasks are happening. It is at the poles or in mid span or both. But for more help can you be more specific?
We would want to know the application of wire
Make Type and coil size wire used
Location of breaks, pole or mid span
Installation by inhouse crew or contractor and years of exp doing OSP construction( No names) to judge their experince level
As the folks here and on the SCTE list have said there are basically three areas
1. Product- Selection and quality
a. Protective coating easliy removed
b. bending radius tight, product doent kink
c. Use of lashing wire not designed for OSP overlashing or double lashing. Check tensile strenght on spec sheet.
d. defective product from maker
2. Installation-Tools and craftmanship
a. Improper lasher useage
b. Improper lashing wire clamp installation
c. Improper use of LW tool
3. Enviroment- Weather, other parts attached to wire, vibration, temperature
