DirecTV Retailers to Seek Customers in PGTV Territories
After the U.S. Bankruptcy court denied Pegasus Communications' request to prevent DirecTV from providing service directly to consumers in areas served by Pegasus Satellite TV, the DBS company invited its retailers to begin searching for customers in the coveted territories.
DirecTV issued a letter to its retailers recently to provide more details on the matter. And, according to the letter, effective today retailers "may commence setting up orders for new subscribers in Pegasus territories."
The letter informed retailers that they would be compensated the same as explained in their sales agency agreement. "In the event of any change to the court's ruling, which impedes DirecTV's ability to market and sell its service to prospective customers in Pegasus territories, we will advise you (the retailer) promptly," the DirecTV letter said. "Customers currently receiving DirecTV service from Pegasus will be considered current DirecTV customers and are not eligible for PPCs (prepaid programming commissions) or any compensation."
Pegasus representatives were unavailable for comment.
