DFW Dish Report=Bland

When compared to last year's DISH Network Team Summit meeting, news from the 2004 show wasn't flourishing - proving to be uneventful for the press. However, for satellite TV dealers, it was a good ol' time.

Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Mike Krzyzewski, Charles W. Ergen and David Moskowitz made celebrity appearances and entertained the attending retailers...marking a star-studded event for sure. However, the buzz stemmed from a number of announcements made at the meeting, including: TNT HD now showing as part of the HD Pack, Sirius products are now available to DISH retailers, and much more.

Some of the products debuted and limelighted at the show included the Platinum Plus IR-to-UHF upgrade kit (remote control product); DISH322, featuring two tuners for independent viewing; the DISHPlayer-DVR 522, a two-tuner receiver for independent viewing and digital video recording features; the DISHPlayer-DVR 942, an HDTV receiver with the 522 DVR/two-tuner advantage; a video-on-demand concept (a set-top-based product); a Best of DISH concept (recorded events); name-based recording concept; DISH Help concept; DISHPlayer-DVR 921, a high-definition DVR; the DISH351, a single-tuner standard-definition QAM receiver; QAM-enabled DISH811, a user-selectable QAM or satellite HDTV receiver; home distribution kits for satellite TV installations; and much more.

Of course, there is always next year. And, yours truly will again make a valiant attempt to attend.
