WildBlue was created for rural America. WildBlue delivers affordable, two-way Internet access via satellite to homes and small businesses nearly everywhere in the continental United States.

Wildblue uses Ka-band

WildBlue uses Ka-band satellite technology, which is capable of download speeds of up to 3 Megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of up to .5 Mbps.

WildBlue intends to offer at least two options to rural consumers:

The residential/family package features download speeds of up to 512 kilobits per second (kbps) and upload speeds of up to 256 kbps. This package is expected to have a retail price of $49.95 per month.

The Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) package features download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 512 kbps. This package is expected to have a retail price of $79.95 per month.
WildBlue Features

High-speed, two-way Internet access. Featuring breakthrough download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 512 kbps—that’s up to 25 times faster than standard 56K dial-up connections.

Always-on Internet connection. Continuous online connection, so subscribers don’t tie up phone lines to surf the Web or pay separate Internet service provider or phone line fees.

Affordable rural delivery. The fastest and most cost-effective way to deliver broadband to rural areas—no towers, no wires or fiber optic cables to bury, no expensive equipment to deploy, and no bandwidth costs.

Spot-beam satellite technology. Beams a signal to areas as small as 200 miles in diameter—so the same satellite frequencies can be used across the country, increasing subscriber capacity and lowering costs per user.

Available almost everywhere. Spot beam target reliability is over
99 percent—which means unlike other broadband options, Ka-band can be delivered to virtually every home and small business in the continental United States.

One dish, two signals. DBS subscribers will be able to use one dish for both satellite TV and two-way Internet access.

Easy install, proven technology. Customer premises equipment uses the DOCSIS standard, which is currently deployed in over 16 million cable modems and requires no special software on the subscriber’s computer.

Power to improve lives. WildBlue has the power to enhance the lives of rural customers by improving rural businesses, schools, and communities.
