Any chance you have the "shutoff time-out period" set @ 5 min?
Nav--->Files & configure--->Config--->Global--->Shutoff Time-out Period=always on
I have had other meters shut off after a little while when AC is sent to them...
Maybe a bad battery connection? Make sure it is getting good contact...
That's all I can think of at the moment... wait, maybe your battery has a short in it.... try an alternate batt.
