Excuse me for poking my nose in here,
I am pretty sure that a basic business license is required for any business. Every state I have worked in (to be legal) requires a basic low voltage or (I for get the other one's name but it is like a license for reidential/commercial communnications... it covers everything you all are refering to) license.
You can work and get jobs... but sooner or later someone will not be able to be satisfied and will turn you in.
Don't forget the usual license, workman's comp, bonding, insurance fees that will be required to set everything up. If you are going to be collecting tax, you have to set that up with the state as well.
Good luck, the first year or two are the worst.
