Here are a few points to consider
1. See if they have a Dunn & Bradstreet Listing, You can buy the report if you feel the need. Fly by night firms usally don't have one.

2. You can check them out with the Better Business Bureau web site. here you can look for unsolved consumer complaints

3. How you get plaid. have them describe the paper flow
Daily work order through to your pay check.

4. Insurance and safety requirements

5. Retainage procedures
Are tehy self funding or do they have to wait for the customer to release their funds.

6. If you live nearby. talk to their other subs or employees.

7. The customers technical standards that you will be held to. Look at them first before jumping in. They might be different than the way you were trained or the way the firm said to do the job. Get answers if different.
