I am glad that you found out what was wrong. Yes, whenever any of the circuit board jumpers are cut for the other optional plug-in's, they must be replaced for normal operation if that option is eliminated.
Well, if you or ANYONE ELSE who needs assistance with the old (or newer) Magnavox or Philips gear due to no technical support, I am happy to be of assistance. Philips may be non-existant, but I still am around and have access to much information on the product lines. They sent me all over the planet for years doing technical and engineering support, those were the "good old days"!
