Our story is probably like many others. We are a small company, averaging 10 - 20 contractors... we've had less and we've had lots more. Adelphia screwed around paying up for approx 1 year before we got a call at 5pm on a Friday, informing us everyone's out... no work... they filed bankruptcy within 30 days. They did send us a $65,000.00 check that we deposited and lo and behold, it was returned! So we had to cover that check. They filed, leaving us with their $254,000 debt. We've exhausted all funds, business and personal, to keep our company and our personal lives afloat. Unfortunately, the IRS doesn't care, so now they're breathing down the cracks of our a.....
Our company of almost 15 years has been pretty much desimated by Adelphia, but we're trudging on... living on next to nothing... while everybody and their brother that's representing some interest in the bankruptcy is getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars each and every month. It's too bad that it took a bankrupcty to get Adelphia to start paying us in a timely fashion.
