I bought used ones before, but I always get the serial number and then contact Acterna (Wavetek) to verify that it is not a hot meter. I don't want to buy hot property. Also, something to think about is if you buy from Acterna you can get a buy a service policy from them, otherwise you pay everytime you send your meter in.
