Re: OK... what's the deal

I apologize for the lack of information. I didn't expect to have so many problems and everything is taking much more time than I planned. I'll try to get all the information pages updated asap.

As you might imagine, the newest pages are up-to-date while the older ones are not.

To clear up some things:

1) READING will remain open and free. No registration or paid account is required to read the discussions or any of the ads. Nothing has changed here.

2) POSTING to discussion still requires registration with a working e-mail address. Nothing changed here either.

3) PLACING ADS is the primary change. There is now a "Free Ad" category, but this is only for Premier accounts. The free ad category isn't working as yet, but possibly by later today. A Premier account is not required to place an ad, but the ad must still be paid for (Premier account saves a few bucks) as detailed on the ad forms. So there are no more anonymous/unpaid ads at all.

CURRENT Verified/Commercial account holders' ads in the main sections will be free of fees for as long as those accounts were originally paid and as long as the ads comply with the past rules (no repeats, etc.) NEW accounts (Premier accounts) must pay for ads in the main categories, albeit at a lower price.

To sum up, there a 2 options for placing an ad:
a) Post to "Free Ads" after paying the yearly $25.
b) Buy an ad in the main ad categories.

I understand that not everyone will like this, but it is what I believe is best going forward. Over the last eight years other sites have sprung up that accept free ads so there really isn't a need to do that here anymore. This industry could, however, use a professionally-run site that doesn't charge hundreds of dollars per ad like the big guys, and that is the site I would like CABL to be.

To make the ads here better I have to pay for CABL's ads in the search engines, for direct marketing and so on. So in order to benefit from that, advertisers here do have to pay. I have kept the fees very reasonable so I don't expect it to be much of an issue after things calm down. If a job isn't posted because someone didn't want to pay a small yearly fee then, in all likelyhood, we're better off not having that ad here in the first place.

If anyone has any comments or issues to bring up, feel free to let me know. I have a few hundred e-mails in my inbox right now and a lot of work on the plate so best if you post it here.
