Re: overseas work

Thank you for applying for an overseas position with Fiber Optic Services. The initial review of your application has been completed. Our customer has invited you to continue with the application process. If you indicate that you wish to continue, you will be notified of the salary, country & position you are being considered for. Please review the following information before you make a decision whether to continue with the application process.

This is not a job offer or an offer for employment.

You are not guaranteed a job.

You are not guaranteed assignment in a specific country.

You will only be offered employment by a written “employment contract.” You will not become an employee until you have signed an employment contract.

Some applicants will complete the application process and will not receive an employment contract.

Some applicants could receive an employment contract but never be placed overseas. Even after you have signed an employment contract, your assigned project could be delayed, modified or canceled.

While overseas, your project could be canceled or modified, causing you to be relocated to another project/country or sent back to the US and your contract terminated.

We urge you to not make your decision lightly. The job you are being considered for is an overseas assignment. Working overseas can be both difficult and dangerous. American workers can be political or religious targets of violence in any country.

Assignments in the Middle East are extremely dangerous. You will be required to live, work and travel in armed, active conflict conditions. You could be killed or wounded by direct or indirect attacks. Middle Eastern assignments pay a premium over other assignments because they involve a constant threat to workers.

Living conditions in any country can be difficult and challenging. The potential barriers of language and local customs can make daily life extremely difficult.

Your goal, as well as ours, will be to enter into a 6 month to 1 year assignment. You must be realistic with yourself as to your temperament and personality. Can you actually tolerate the potentially harsh conditions and function in a productive manor? Living conditions at some locations can be very difficult. Can you tolerate possibly being separated from your family for long periods of time? Can you tolerate being assigned to work with persons that conflict with your personality? These conflicts could cause you personal distress or could cause you to terminate your contract.

Please consider these issues carefully before you decide to continue. Being realistic with yourself now can save you and FOS considerable time and expense.

If you wish to continue with the application process, reply to this email with the word “YES” in the subject line. You will receive an email in return that contains the projected Job Assignment, Pay Rate and Country. This email will also contain an attached form which must be completed, signed and returned to FOS.

Thank you for your time and effort,

Fiber optic Services, Inc.
