What a sweep teck doesw is check and repair the response of the CATV system from usually 50 to 750/870 MHz. Because of mismatch and other the response of the system get with bump and hole and most of the new amplifier have a de-bumper where you can remove these pump and hole. attached is a picture of a sweep response of a system.
